Once you’ve purchased a used Airstream® RV, it’s important to make sure that you’ve checked it over before you take your first trip. There are some steps you need to take in order to ensure that the used RV is in good shape and ready to travel. This quick guide should help you out.

Water System Flush

The water tanks on your used RV likely need to be flushed and cleaned just as a cautionary measure. Check the toilet’s closing hatch seal by pouring in some water and letting it sit. It should drain out of the toilet if the seal is working properly. Run the shower and make sure that water isn’t standing in it and that it drains promptly.

Power System Check

There is a GFCI outlet in your bathroom or kitchen, which has a “test” and a “reset” button on it. Press the “test” button to make sure that the “reset” button pops out when pushed, then push “reset.” Make sure that the power system seems to function properly and that your outlets work.

Safety Measures

Make sure that there are carbon monoxide and smoke detectors installed in the used RV and that they are functional. Also, store at least two fire extinguishers on board, with one being in the kitchen and another in the bedroom. If you have an outside storage compartment, you can stash one there, too.
